David MacMillan

David MacMillan is President and Co-Founder of MegaWatt Storage Farms.

Prior to MegaWatt, Mr. MacMillan was President - North America of Deeya Energy, a developer of electricity storage systems.

Earlier, Mr. MacMillan was a Venture Partner at BlueRun Ventures (a $1 billion global VC fund) and a Board Member of Sand Hill Angels (one of the Bay Area's most active angel investor groups.)

Mr. MacMillan is also Founder and President of Capital Ideas, a management consulting firm focused on commercializing new technologies. At Capital Ideas, Mr. MacMillan has helped build over two dozen technology-based business, both as startups and within Fortune 500's. As part of these activities, he has often held interim management positions at client companies, including President of Anthology Solutions and VP Optical Networking at Flextronics.

In 1990, Mr. MacMillan founded and was President of Why. Why developed a SQL-compatible decision-support database system running on supercomputers, used for fast analysis and pattern identification in massive relational databases.

In 1985, Mr. MacMillan founded and was President of Gazelle, a high performance GaAs semiconductor company. Gazelle merged with a subsidiary of Tektronix in 1991, and is now publicly traded as TriQuint. Both Why and Gazelle were backed by Kleiner Perkins.

Mr. MacMillan has an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was named a Baker Scholar for academic distinction. His undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Queen's University in Kingston, Canada.


Edward G. Cazalet, Ph.D.

Ed Cazalet is Vice-President and Co-Founder of MegaWatt Storage Farms.

Dr. Cazalet has over forty years of electric power experience as an executive, board member, consultant, and entrepreneur.

Dr Cazalet was appointed by California Governor Schwarzenegger in 2004 to a three-year term as a member of the five-person Board of Governors of the CAISO.  The CAISO is charged with safe and reliable real-time operation and planning of the high voltage transmission system in California. 

Dr. Cazalet founded APX in 1996 and served for many years as CEO.  Dr. Cazalet conceived the business opportunity, and raised $66 million in investment capital in three rounds.  APX provides independent transaction services for electric power and environmental registries.

Dr. Cazalet founded Decision Focus, Inc. (DFI) in 1976 and led DFI to become a leading firm in energy and electric power market modeling and decision analysis consulting.  Previously at SRI International he was an early member of the pioneering Decision Analysis Group at SRI International.  With both companies, and also as an independent consultant, Dr. Cazalet has participated in and led high-level consulting and decision analysis engagements for several of the world’s largest corporations and many government agencies.

Dr. Cazalet holds a PhD from Stanford University focused on economics, decision analysis and power system planning and degrees in engineering from the University of Washington.
